Hugin comes from Teutonic mythology - one of a pair of ravens associated with Odin (the chief of the Teutonic gods). The two ravens are named Hugin ("Thought") and Munin ("Memory"). Each morning they fly out around the world, returning in the evening to perch on Odin's shoulders and tell him of all that they've seen in their flights.
This personification of the mind taking flight and exploring the world appeals to me, particularly in the context of the Internet, so I opted to name the web site after Hugin.
Ummm...because "hugin.com" was already taken. :-)
